Provided is a solid-state image pickup device (1) wherein M number of pixel sections (P(1)-P(16)) which perform photoelectric conversion are arranged. The solid-sate image pickup device is provided with: N number of holding sections (H(1)-H(4)) which sequentially hold output signals outputted from the different pixel sections among M number of pixel sections (P(1)-P(16)) (N is smaller than M); and an amplifying section (30) which sequentially amplifies the output signals outputted from the N number of holding sections (H(1)-H(4)).
