EYESIGHT-PROTECTING COMPOSITION CONTAINING FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS HAVING PREVENTIVE AND THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY IN DIABETES OR DIABETES COMPLICATIONS

The present invention relates to an eyesight-protecting composition having preventive and therapeutic efficacy in diabetes or diabetes complications. In particular, the eyesight-protecting composition essentially comprises functional components such as calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin D, and additionally at least one plant extract selected from the group consisting of lycii fructus extract, astragalus extract, cassia tora extract, polygonatum odoratum extract and rubus coreanus extract. A composition containing functional components of the present invention significantly inhibits the expression of inflammatory factors, inhibits / regulates the expression of cytokines of Th1/Th2 cells via a JAK-STAT pathway, and also significantly inhibits the expression of STAT3 in diabetic retinopathy, which is one of the complications of diabetes, such that the composition can advantageously be used as an eyesight-protecting composition efficacious for prevention and treatment of diabetes complications.
