A tape unit (500) holds a tape roll formed by rolling up a tape (55) and is contained within a cassette case. The tape unit (500) is provided with a holder shaft section inserted into the shaft hole of the tape roll formed at the center thereof about which the tape roll is rolled. The holder shaft section rotatably supports the tape roll held by the tape unit (500). A mark section (800) is provided on the outside radially of the tape roll supported by the holder shaft section. The mark section (800) includes at least one hole section (801) and indicates the type of the tape (55).
