<p>The present invention relates to a communications network in which one or more of the primary nodes (or PCPs) are connected to the core nodes by a fibre interconnect cable, which bypasses the local exchanges. This provides a more resilient network with only a minor increase in the amount of cable and infrastructure being required, when compared with conventional approaches to installing optical fibre into the access network.</p> |
