The present invention relates to an automatic feed device (1) for a chromatograph (4), for the physico-chemical characterization of a material by inverse gas chromatography, characterized in that it comprises an injection unit (2) provided with a magazine (3) containing a plurality of reservoirs in which probe molecules of different types are stored, a carrier fluid circuit (8) comprising at least one sampling line (82) passing through said magazine (3) and a direct feed line (81) branched off said sampling line (82), selective delivery means (22 to 26), for selectively delivering the probe molecules into at least one part of said carrier fluid so as to feed said chromatograph (4), and means (7) for automatically controlling the selective delivery means according to predetermined experimental conditions and the results from said chromatograph (4).
