<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time taken to obtain the result of printing in quantity required by a user and to improve the running cost of a recording material. <P>SOLUTION: Ink consumption Xn in printing based on image data is calculated. The input of a required number Nr of printing sheets for the image data is received, and a quantity In of ink remaining in the printing device is acquired. Then, an ink consumption reduction rate Rn is calculated for adjusting the ink consumption Xn so that the image data can be printed on the required number Nr of printing sheets within the quantity In of remaining ink.
