PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid fault occurrence in analysis processing for a specific packet. SOLUTION: A fault occurs at a packet transfer device itself during execution of packet analysis processing for a receive packet to be transferred. If the packet transfer device is rebooted after that, a faulty-packet-storage-processing-portion 135 stores the receive packet, an object of the packet-analysis processing during occurrence of the fault, in a faulty packet memory 136. Prior to the packet analysis processing, a faulty-packet-validation-processing-portion 134 determines whether the receive packet is faulty or not, depending on that a packet matched with the receive packet is stored in the faulty packet memory 136. A packet-passage-processing-portion 132 controls the transfer of the receive packet, based on the result of execution of the packet analysis processing. If it is determined that the receive packet is faulty, the packet passage processing section 132 stops execution of the packet analysis processing and transfers the receive packet.
