<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container tracking system capable of tracking a container for the whole of a transportation period even in transportation to be continued for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: A container tracking system comprising a mobile unit 3 configured to be coupled to a container 2 to be tracked and to communicate with a ground control unit 4 through a communication system 5. the mobile unit comprising: a positioning module 7; an alarm module adapted to detect alarm conditions related to the container; and a communication module generating a tracking signal containing the positioning information about the mobile unit, and/or alarm information associated with one or more alarm conditions related to the container.
