摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately calculate a focusing position. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging device 102 which receives subject light transmitted through a photographic optical system and picks up an image; a motor 202, a lens driving circuit 203 and a lens CPU 205 which function as a focus-lens driving section for driving a focus lens 201 of the photographic optical system; an external light irradiating section 107 which radiates external light to a subject; a first focusing position arithmetic calculating section 113 which performs arithmetic calculation of a focusing position, by using the image picked up by the imaging device 102 with the external light from the external light irradiating section 107; a second focusing position arithmetic calculating section 114 which performs arithmetic calculation of the focusing position by using contrast information of the image picked up by the imaging device 102; and a focusing position arithmetic calculation switching section 112, which switches the first focusing position arithmetic calculation section 113 and the second focusing position arithmetic calculating section 114. The focusing position is accurately calculated by using the focusing position arithmetic calculation section which can more accurately perform arithmetic calculation of focusing at the present focus position.
