PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To considerably enhance rigidity of a steering column for a tilt adjustment or a telescopic adjustment. SOLUTION: A pair of clamping members 12, 12 are provided to embrace an inner column 3 on an upper side inside an outer column 4 on a lower side. By moving the pair of clamping members 12, 12 to be close to each other by a fastening bolt 13, the inner column 3 on the upper side is clamped by being embraced by the pair of clamping members 12, 12. Thus, the inner column 3 on the upper side is constituted to be directly clamped by the outer column 4 on the lower side, and thereby rigidity of both of the columns 3 and 4 can be enhanced.
