PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether a metal is contaminated in a commodity before a visitor takes the commodity by hand, and to thereby secure safety of the commodity without causing uneasiness in the visitor. SOLUTION: An electronic pop 200 as a foreign substance detection device includes: a metal detection part 220 for detecting a metal; a human detection part 252 for detecting existence of a human in a detection range of the metal detection part 220 or in a position range touchable by the detection range; and a detection reporting part 256 for reporting detection information showing that a metal is detected, when the metal detection part 220 detects the metal and the human detection part 252 does not detect a human.
