PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that securely separates a recording material from a heat member with a simple configuration and to provide an image forming apparatus including the same. SOLUTION: The fixing device 5 includes: a rotatable endless heating belt 18; a rotatable pressure roller 19 disposed in pressure contact with the heating belt 18; a heat source 33 for heating the heating belt 18; a nip area N where the heating belt 18 and pressure roller 19 are disposed in firm contact with each other; and a hold member 40 fixed to the body of the device, inside the heating belt 18, pressed against the pressure roller 19, and having a guide surface 44a for guiding the heating belt 18 so that this belt moves along a predetermined path in the nip area N. The fixing device 5 melts and fixes an unfixed toner image on a recording material 9 by conveying the recording material 9 while sandwiching it in the nip area N. The guide face 44a is formed so as to incline in the part positioned in the nip area N in the direction of the pressure roller 19 toward the downstream side in the direction of paper conveyance.
