A positioner unit locates the applicator inside the magnetic resonance tomography equipment (5) (MRT), with respect to both the MRT and the object of investigation within it. The drive is outside the investigation couch (34) introduction unit (or gantry) of the MRT, and acts on the applicator (25) and positioner through the mediator (8). The controller is connected to the drive controls and the MRT control computer. It operates one or more of the following automatically and simultaneously: positioning sequence, applicator, positioner, time sequencing up to and during MR measurement, using electrical signals. Location and movement of the applicator and positioner are repeated at a frequency of at least 1 Hz, preferably at least 10 Hz. An independent claim is included for the corresponding control method.
