Disclosed is a hard capsule which is highly stable even when a solvent capable of dissolving a slightly-soluble medicinal component is filled therein, and which has excellent moldability and an excellent drying rate. As a hard capsule that meets the above-mentioned requirements, a hard capsule is provided which comprises a coating film, wherein the coating film comprises: (A) a polymer or copolymer produced by polymerizing or copolymerizing at least one polymerizable vinyl monomer represented by general formula [1] in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol and/or a derivative thereof: and (B) at least one water-soluble polymer selected from the group consisting of a cellulose polymer, dextrin and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone). H2C=C(R1)-COOR2 [1] [In the formula, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.]
