PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balancer device braking a cylinder member of a gas spring when power supply interruption occurs as a braking device for a linear driving type machine tool preventing a drop of a main spindle head when the power supply interruption occurs. SOLUTION: The balancer device 5 for the linear driving type machine tool includes a gas spring having the cylinder member fixed to the main spindle head so as to cancel a part of the own weight of the main spindle head, the braking device 25 preventing a drop of the main spindle head 2 when the power supply interruption occurs is provided in the balancer device, and the braking device is provided with a case member fixed to a column 3 and externally fitted to the cylinder member 21, a collet member supported by the case member and externally fitted to the cylinder member, and a driving means equipped in the case member, compressing the collet member into a diameter shrunken state and switching to a braking state braking the cylinder member when the power supply interruption occurs, and opening the collet member into a diameter enlarged state and releasing the braking state when the power supply is not interrupted.
