PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts, to reduce the size of a transmission, and to obtain a parking lock state in an automatic transmission for a vehicle in which selective establishment of gear trains of a plurality of shift stages allowing selective establishment and provided between an input shaft and an output shaft can be switched, and a shift drum engaging with a plurality of shift forks on the outer periphery thereof is turnably driven by an actuator. SOLUTION: At a position for obtaining the parking lock state in which the output shaft 46 is unrotatable when the shift drum 85 is in a neutral state in which the gear trains G1-G6 of the plurality of shift stages are not established, a parking drum 105 capable of driving specific shift forks 78, 79 out of the plurality of shift forks 78-81 is disposed separately from the shift drum 85 in a manner capable of turning around the axis parallel with the axes of the input shaft 43 and the output shaft 46 while engaging with the specific shift forks 78, 79.
