PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection tag capable of imparting to a magnetic substance, as required, without using any special devices, the magnetic characteristics for causing large Barkhausen effect to be produced, when an alternating magnetic field is applied. SOLUTION: The magnetic characteristics that cause large Barkhausen effect to be produced, when the alternating magnetic field is applied, can be imparted to a magnetic substance segment 22, without the use of special devices, as required, by causing a detection tag 10 to include a magnetic foil 20, and a cutting mechanism 30 for cutting the magnetic foil 20 with a cutter 36 so as to cause the large Barkhausen effect to be produced, when the alternating magnetic field is applied.
