PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jetting device that makes jetting characteristics uniform regardless of the temperature of a liquid and to provide a method for controlling the liquid jetting device. SOLUTION: A printer has: a recording head 3 that introduces ink from an ink pack 52 to a pressure generating chamber and can jet a liquid to a projection target (recording paper) from a nozzle 47 by driving a pressure generating means; a drive signal generating means for generating a jetting drive pulse that drives the pressure generating means; and a heating means for heating the ink or projection target. The printer includes: an ink speed measuring section 7 that measures the flying speed of the ink jetted from the nozzle of the recording head during the operation of jetting ink against the projection target; and a correcting means for correcting the jetting drive pulse based on a change in the flying speed measured by the ink speed measuring section.
