PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat slide device which simplifies a slide operation when greatly sliding the seat, and, even when rapid acceleration is applied to the seat, prevents the seat slide due to the acceleration. SOLUTION: A lower rail 10 includes: a brake pad 42 energized to advance toward an upper rail 20; and a plate 48 for blocking the advance of the brake pad 42. The advance of the brake pad 42 is blocked by the plate 48 during a normal period that a predetermined acceleration force is not applied to the vehicle seat 1 in the slide direction thereof. When the predetermined acceleration force is applied to the vehicle seat 1 in the slide direction thereof, the blocking of the advance of the brake pad 42 is released as the plate 48 is moved by the applied acceleration.
