PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent read error caused by variation in track pitch, and to lower the risk in writing of data that the data to be written to a certain track is overwritten on the adjacent tracks. SOLUTION: A positioning control part 152 controls head positioning, at the reading of data from a disc 120, by considering correction error generated in the amount of correction in the so-called deflection of core caused by variation of track pitch of the disc 120. The positioning control part 152 computes the amount of correction in deflection of core when variation of track pitch is considered by obtaining a value d<SB>r</SB>=[d+Δd] achieved by adding a correction errorΔd to the amount (d) of correction in deflection of core when the variation of track pitch is not considered.
