PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head gimbal assembly capable of avoiding having a significant impact on floating characteristics of a slider, and avoiding complicating design of a slider even when a mark part is provided in a magnetic recording head gimbal assembly using a near field. SOLUTION: The head gimbal assembly comprises a slider that floats on a recording medium with the wind pressure from a rotating recording medium, and has a near field light-generating part for generating near field light, and a light guiding section for introducing light used for generating near field light to the near field light generating part. The slider has a spacial structure that generates wind pressure, and a flat section disposed next to the spacial structure, which contributes to the floating of the slider less than the spacial structure. The flat section and the light guiding section have a flat section-side mark part and a light guiding section-side mark part used for positioning the near field light-generating part and the light guiding section.
