PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen process printing machine which can prevent a substrate showing a printing failure from being produced through the supply shortfall of a paste, as well as a screen process printing method. SOLUTION: First, prior to executing an initial printing operation following the supply of the paste PT onto the surface of a mask member 23, squeegees 24a and 24b are moved in such a state that the former are left in contact with the mask member 23 and thereby, the paste PT is levelled off in the width direction of the squeegees 24a and 24b. Thus it is examined whether the height "h" of the levelled paste PT has exceeded the previously decided standard height "H" or not.
