PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the deterioration in an image quality of an image. SOLUTION: This liquid discharge device has a head unit 40 provided with a first head group composed of heads positioned in a first position by alternately arranging a plurality of heads juxtaposed in the row direction in the first position in the crossing direction for crossing with the row direction and a second position different from the first position and a second head group composed of the heads positioned in the second position, and a controller in which the head unit 40 performs first discharge operation for forming a first dot row along the crossing direction in a medium and second discharge operation for forming a second dot row along the crossing direction so as not to overlap with the first dot row in a position in the row direction for forming the first dot row in a state of positioning the head H2 belonging to the second head group in a position in the row direction for positioning the head H1 belonging to the first head group when performing the first discharge operation.
