<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a printing control method capable of suppressing printing cost and effectively using toner with high color saturation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image forming device including a printing part mounted with a first toner group and a second toner group having color saturation higher than that of the first toner group, a control part converts color information on each part of an image based on image data designated by a printing job to a value on a predetermined color space, determines the toner group suitable for the image by comparing the value on the predetermined color space with a color reproduction region of each toner group registered beforehand, determines the toner group suitable for a paper sheet and/or printing condition designated by the printing job by referring to corresponding information stored beforehand, and decides the toner group to be used for printing the image based on the both determination results.
