PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke detection device capable of efficiently detecting gradually-spreading smoke while suppressing an effect of disturbance when the gradually-spreading smoke is to be detected. SOLUTION: The smoke detection device for detecting occurrence of smoke by subjecting an image captured by a monitoring camera to image processing includes: an image memory 10 for storing a plurality of images captured by the monitoring camera in time series, and a reference image; and a smoke feature quantity calculation means 31 for calculating a correlation value between a latest image captured by the monitoring camera and the reference image in a smoke detection area identified as a candidate region where smoke occurs, and determining a possibility that smoke with high density occurs is high by determining whether the correlation value is below a predetermined value.
