The covering has a set of fibers with germ-killing activity in humid environment, where the fibers include an oligodynamic metal component. The oligodynamic metal component is partly embedded in the fibers, where the oligodynamic metal component is a part of a layer that partly coats the fibers. The fibers comprise a core formed by polymer material, where the core is partially covered by the layer containing the oligodynamic metal part. An independent claim is also included for a machine for producing and processing a fibrous material strip.
