The sound suppressor (1) has a pipe (2), which extends longitudinally around a tube axis (4). A helical assembly (8) is formed in the pipe, which is defined helically around a gas channel (10). A channel unit (11) is equipped, in which sound-absorbing mediums (12) are arranged. The pipe has a closed wall (5), where the sound-absorbing mediums run in the pipe. The sound-absorbing mediums are made of a porous shaped body or a fiber material.
