TONER CARRIER, DEVELOPING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING METHOD AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner carrier that can stably form toner cloud in a long period of time and develop an electrostatic latent image, to provide a developing device with the toner carrier, and to provide an image forming apparatus.

SOLUTION: A hopping developing device is provided, which allows a toner carried by a toner carrying member to hop by an electric field formed by a plurality of electrodes and to develop an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor surface. The toner is a droplet solidified toner in a vapor phase, which is produced by forming droplets from a toner composition liquid in a vapor phase, the composition liquid being prepared by dissolving or dispersing a toner composition containing at least a resin, a colorant, and a release agent in a solvent, and subsequently solidifying the droplets. The toner carriers array in a conveyance direction of the toner on an insulating support, and have a surface layer covering the electrodes, wherein the surface layer contains a structural unit expressed by formula (1). In formula (1), R1and R2each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or aryl group, or R1and R2form a 5-8C cyclic hydrocarbon residue; R3and R4each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or aryl group; a and b are integers of 1 or 2 and respectively represent numbers of R3and R4substituting in the benzene rings; and when a=2, two of R3may be identical or different from each other; when b=2, two of R4may be identical or different from each other; and the alkyl groups or aryl groups may have a substituent.
