PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction device for reducing noise while storing an important element such as an edge when a human being perceives an image, and for properly reducing any non-additive noise in a color image.

SOLUTION: A noise reduction device 100 for reducing noise in the pixel values of pixels of interest in a color image by using the pixel values of adjacent pixels including the pixels of interest is provided with: a representative value vector calculation means 103 for extracting pixels included in a similar region whose similarity with the pixels of interest in a predetermined color space is equal to or more than a threshold from the neighborhood region, and for calculating the representative value vectors of the pixels of the similar region; a difference projection means 105 for projecting difference vectors between the vectors of the pixels of interest and the representative value vectors to the specific direction of a color space; and a pixel value correction means 106 for replacing the elements of the vectors obtained by adding the difference vectors projected to the specific direction to the representative value vectors with the pixel values of the pixels of interest.
