<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal packing and a non-packing ferrule, usable for a pipe joint, secure, and superior in durability, sanitation, power saving and safety. <P>SOLUTION: The circular ring shaped metal packing for the pipe joint has a tapered portion where an angleαbetween a center axis X of a circular ring and the normal of the surface of the packing is 20-36°or 54-70°. The surface of the tapered portion exists on the cross section of the packing, cut in a plane including the center axis X.
