PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly display an image even in a low-temperature environment without complicating a structure etc. SOLUTION: When a warm-up mode is selected at power-ON, a backlight ON state is set first and a liquid crystal display panel is warmed up with heat generated by a light source of a backlight unit, for example, a cathode-ray tube (ST3, ST5). Screen muting is turned OFF after set time passes and an image display ON state is set to display an image on the liquid crystal display panel(ST6, ST7). Even in a low-temperature environment, the temperature of the liquid crystal display panel reaches a temperature to normally operate when the image display ON state is set. No image defect occurs and proper image display is ensured. Further, no screen heater is needed to warm up the liquid crystal display panel, and the structure is not complicated.
