PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring acoustic impedance which accurately measures acoustic impedance of a subject. SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring acoustic impedance 1 has an ultrasonic vibrator 13 disposed facing the subject 16 through a first ultrasonic transmission member 11 and a second ultrasonic transmission member 12. Ultrasonic waves emitted from the ultrasonic vibrator 13 are reflected by the interface of the respective ultrasonic transmission members 11, 12 and by the surface of the subject 16. The acoustic impedance of the subject 16 is computed based on the signal intensity of the reflected waves and the characteristic acoustic impedance of the respective ultrasonic transmission members 11, 12.
