PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chlorine resistance estimation method of a separation membrane easily estimating the chlorine resistance with high accuracy, compared to the conventional chlorine resistance estimation method. SOLUTION: In the chlorine resistance estimation method of a separation membrane, the separation membranes are dipped in a plurality of water vessels containing evaluation water containing chlorine-based substances with different concentrations to evaluate the chlorine resistance; then from the plurality of chlorine resistance evaluation values obtained by the evaluation, a regression is created showing the correlation of increase of the chlorine resistance evaluation value following the increase of the concentration of the chlorine-based substances in the evaluation water; and the chlorine resistance evaluation value of the separation membrane to the treating water containing the chlorine-based substances of a specific concentration is obtained, by using the regression.
