PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of forming a correction pattern of excellent visibility, and a method of forming the pattern for correcting record timing. SOLUTION: The recorder of a printer includes a recording head 35 having a nozzle line extended along a sub-scanning direction Y, and for conducting printing on a paper sheet 38 in accompaniment to movement along a main scanning direction X, and a PF motor for conveying the paper sheet 38 along the sub-scanning direction Y, and conducts the printing by repeating printing by the recording head 35 and conveyance of a distance corresponding to a length of the nozzle line along the sub-scanning direction Y. The printer (recorder) includes a control part for controlling a driving state of the recording head 35, to form the correction patterns A-F by printing the first pattern 52 while moving along the first direction, and by printing the second pattern 53 while moving along the second direction, and for controlling a driving state of the PF motor, to convey the paper sheet 38 by a distance shorter than the distance corresponding to the length of the nozzle line, between a finish time point of the first pattern 52 and a printing start time point of the second pattern 53.
