PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device having improved separability between a surface opposite to the side where an unfixed toner image is formed in a recording medium and a rotating body on the pressurization side in contact with the surface, and an image forming apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with: a heating rotating body 1; a pressure rotating body 6 which forms a pressure welding part N; a heating side separation guide plate 9 one side of which approaches the surface of the heating rotating body 1 and which is arranged in the traveling direction of the heating rotating body in an area in the downstream of the traveling direction of the surface of the heating rotating body 1 of the pressure welding part N, and where the surface advances by drawing a curve or its downstream; a pressurization side separation guide plate 9 one side of which approaches the surface of the pressure rotating body 6 and which is arranged in the traveling direction of the surface of the pressure rotating body 6 in an area in the downstream of the traveling direction of the surface of the pressure rotating body 6 of the pressure welding part N and where the surface advances by drawing a curve, or its downstream; and a pressurization side gas discharge means 10 for discharging pulse-like squeezed gas from an area sandwiched between the surface of the pressure rotating body 6 and the surface of the pressurization side separation guide plate 7 facing the surface of the pressure rotating body 6, and the image forming apparatus using the same.
