PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a damping device capable of improving movement performance of a bearing unit by effectively reducing vibration in the axial direction of the bearing unit. SOLUTION: A load giving means 23 is arranged on a housing 9 for supporting an outer ring 7b of a rolling bearing 7 so as to come in contact with a side face of the outer ring 7b of the rolling bearing 7 which supporting a rotary shaft 3, and the load giving means 23 performs damping of the rolling bearing 7 by applying a preload as an axial vibration load.
