A centraliser for centralising tubular members in downhole applications is provided. The centraliser (10) comprises a substantially tubular body (16) having an inner surface (40), an outer surface (44), and a plurality of apertures (26) extending between the inner and outer surfaces (40,44). The centraliser also comprises a plurality of projecting elements (14) which are located in the apertures (26) so as to project radially from the outer surface (44) of the body (16). Each projecting element (14) includes a base portion (28) adapted to contact the body (16) and limit the outward radial movement of the element (14). A projecting element for use in the centraliser, and a method of selecting and assembling a centraliser are also provided. |
