Disclosed is a method for the preparation of nanoparticle dispersions of Titanium dioxide in anatase form, wherein a titanium alkoxide is made to react under heat in water in the presence of mineral acids and a non-ionic surfactant, the solution thus obtained is possibly reduced to a small volume if necessary. Also disclosed are nanoparticles dispersions obtained using said method and the use of said dispersions for the preparation of photolytic coatings.
