<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic-inorganic composite hydrogel having both excellent mechanical properties and high swellability with a physiological saline, a dried article of the same, and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This organic-inorganic composite hydrogel includes a polymer of a water-soluble acrylic monomer and a water-swellable clay mineral. A monomer represented by formula (1) is used as the water-soluble acrylic monomer to provide the organic-inorganic composite hydrogel having both excellent mechanical properties and high swellability with a physiological saline as well as a dried article thereof excellent in flexibility.
