PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing non-diaphragm building construction, which can maintain various advantages obtained by using a hot-formed steel pipe for a column and a panel, and which enables the panel to have an optimum plate thickness. SOLUTION: In this method for designing the non-diaphragm building construction, the hot-formed steel pipe is used for the column and the panel; and the plate thickness of the panel is set greater than that of the column. A cross section of the column, that of the panel and that of a beam are selected and compared with set numeric values, so that it can be determined whether or not the dimensions and the quality of a material fall within applicable scopes; and a new cross section is selected by returning to the selection of the cross section outside the applicable scope. It is determined within the applicable scope whether or not the strength of the flange surface of the panel is the ultimate strength of the beam or above. When the strength of the flange surface of the panel is the ultimate strength of the beam or above, its frame rigidity is compared with that of through-diaphragm building construction, so that it can be determined whether or not an additional spring is required. When the additional spring is not required, a design, which does not give consideration to the additional spring, is employed; and computing of an ordinary structural code is started or a return to the selection of a new cross section is performed. When the additional spring is required, it is determined whether or not the cross section is changed. When the cross section is not changed, computing of the additional spring is performed; a design giving consideration to the additional spring is made; and after that, computing of the ordinary structural code is started.
