PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality diagnostic device for an intake system, diagnosing the abnormality of the intake system with high accuracy in consideration of the suction gas flow speed in the intake system. SOLUTION: A system identification section 10 identifies an identification formula describing a dynamic characteristic from a throttle opening as a control input to intake manifold pressure as control output, as a PWARX (Piece-Wise affine Auto-Regressive eXogeneous) model changed over in an acoustic velocity area and a non-acoustic velocity area. A velocity area estimation section 12 and an intake manifold pressure estimation section 14 estimate the present velocity area and intake manifold pressure using the identified PWARX model. An abnormality determination section 20 determines the abnormality of the intake system based on the estimated present velocity area and intake manifold pressure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
