PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve work efficiency of image diagnosis using a spectral estimated image. SOLUTION: A region of interest ROI and a region of reference ROR are detected from an endoscopic image P. Subsequently, the spectral distribution of the region of interest ROI and the region of reference ROR is estimated, and a wavelength set (λr,λg,λb) for attaining the maximum color differenceΔE of the region of interest ROI and the region of reference ROR is detected. In an operation means 70, a matrix parameter M corresponding to the detected wavelength set (λr,λg,λb) is extracted from a parameter database DB, and a spectral estimated image SP is generated by matrix operation.
