<p>A projector apparatus is equipped with a DMD (1), a lamp (2), a color wheel (3), and a projection optical system (51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56). The color wheel is equipped with three filter segments for transmitting red, green, and blue component lights, respectively, out of the light emitted from the lamp, and one filter segment for transmitting white light. The power supplied to the lamp during a period wherein the light emitted from the lamp is transmitted through a boundary region between the two filter segments is made smaller than the power supplied to the lamp during other periods. Consequently, the brightness and contrast of a projected video can be improved and the color reproducibility is also improved without increasing the sum of powers to be supplied to the lamp.</p> |
