The method involves flowing a conical vortex tube (1) with a tangential inlet (3) for a flow medium through media accelerated over flow guide devices for forming separation of slow components and fast components in a boundary region of the medium. The fast components are used for transformation of flow energy into other forms of energy. An inlet guide vane (7) is provided for guiding the flow of the medium to an energy converter i.e. turbine wheel (5), where a cross section of the inlet corresponds to throughput of the medium for the energy conversion at a front-sided, circular outlet (4a). An independent claim is also included for a device for utilizing a vortex tube system during conversion of flow energy into other energy forms.
