The method involves acquiring biometric data (D) of a user by a reading device (2). Check is made whether the biometric data of the user correlate with stored biometric data, and access for the user to the system is permitted depending on the correlation result. A compressed recording value (K) is computed from the biometric data of the user, where the compressed recording value is formed as a hash value. The recording value is compared with a stored recording value so that the access to the secured function is denied based on the correlation of the compressed recording values.
