<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crosstalk. <P>SOLUTION: An electro-optical device includes, on a substrate (7): an electro-optical element comprising a first electrode (131) and a second electrode (132); a first switching element which is provided between a first data line (6a) to which a data potential is supplied and the first electrode and is turned on in a first period and is turned off in a second period; and a second switching element which is provided between a second data line (6b) to which the data potential is supplied and the second electrode and is turned off in the first period and is turned on in the second period.
