PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object identification device for improving object identification accuracy by detecting an undetected region which is a part of an object and not capable of being detected by a sensor. SOLUTION: The object identification device 1 determining whether or not an object is an object to be identified on the basis of the amount of characteristics of an object (A) detected with an imaging camera 2 and an LRF 3 includes: an undetected region detection unit 15 detecting undetected regions T4, T6 which are the parts of the object (A) and not capable of being detected with the imaging camera 2 and the LRF 3; and an object identification unit 16 determining whether or not the object (A) is the object to be identified on the basis of the detection result from the undetected region detection unit 15. By means of the object identification device 1, if there is the undetected region, by detecting and discriminating the undetected region, the amount of the characteristics to be detected in the undetected region, i.e., the amount of a shelter, etc., is prevented from being erroneously recognized as the amount of the characteristics of the object (A), thereby, it becomes possible to improve the object identification accuracy.
