PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion battery capable of maintaining the initial performance for a long time. SOLUTION: A lithium ion battery includes: a separator; a power generating device provided with an anode and a cathode; a pair of terminals respectively joined to the anode and the cathode; a package that houses and seals therein the power generating device with an open end of each of the terminals exposed to the outside; a fusion-bonding margin formed in the package to have a predetermined width; and an insulating coating that coats a predetermined position of each of the terminals. The fusion-bonding margin includes a fusion-bonding portion that holds the insulating coating and where a metal-resin composite film of the package is fusion-bonded to the insulating coating. In the lithium ion battery, the insulating coating extends and expands in a portion located more inward than the fusion-bonding portion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
