PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces the number of times of maintenance of the apparatus by preventing adhesion to a liquid delivering surface of liquid droplets in the form of mist generated when the liquid is delivered, and enables a continuous operation for a long time, and to provide a mist collecting method. SOLUTION: A charging polarity of a nozzle electrode 160 formed on a nozzle surface 150A of an inkjet head 150 is switched from plus to minus when the ink delivering operation is started. At this time, an ink 200 passing a nozzle 151 is electrified with the plus charge. A satellite 202 separated from an ink liquid droplet 200 delivered from the nozzle is also electrified with the plus polarity. A repulsion is generated between the satellite 202 and the nozzle electrode 160 by switching the charging polarity of the nozzle electrode 160 by a timing when the ink 200 is drawn and cut, whereby the satellite 202 moves in a direction to be away from the nozzle surface 150A.
