PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently heat a fixing belt by suppressing the heating of a supporting body that supports the fixing belt. SOLUTION: The fixing device 1 includes: the fixing belt 2 that is formed in a cylindrical shape extending in a predetermined shaft direction and supported to be rotatable; a pressure roller 4 that forms a fixing nip N between the fixing belt 2 and the pressure roller by pressuring the outer peripheral side of the fixing belt 2, and rotates in such a state that a supporting body 5 that is provided in the fixing belt 2 and supports the fixing belt 2 while receiving pressuring force of the pressure roller 4 from the inner peripheral side of the fixing belt 2; and a graphite sheet 63 that is provided to extend in the shaft direction inside the fixing belt 2 and heats the fixing belt 2 from the inner peripheral side by emitting radiant heat by itself. The graphite sheet 63 has directivity at which radiation intensity becomes higher in normal directions N1 and N3 on a cross section orthogonal to the shaft. The supporting body 5 is arranged so as not to be located in the normal directions N1 and N3 of the graphite sheet 63 in the fixing belt 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
